 ls at the Longmen Grottoes"\nHow do archaeologists use Virtual Reality to 
 do research? Come to lunch with us at Conversations with an Archaeologist 
 — An HCBS Lunch Series\, where archaeologists\, scholars and students fr
 om across fields share ideas and perspectives in a relaxed setting.\n\nOur
  speaker will be Dr. Lan Li\, sessional instructor at the Department of Hi
 storical Studies\, University of Toronto Mississauga.\nIn this event\, I w
 ill share my experience as an archaeologist applying digital technologies 
 to the study of Buddhist burials at the Longmen Grottoes. The event will f
 eature a VR tour of a 3D reconstruction of a recent excavation and a discu
 ssion about practical methods for digitally preserving and interpreting Bu
 ddhist sites. Additionally\, I will also address some of the challenges I 
 faced while collecting research data at famous tourist destinations like L
 ongmen and other at sites that remain active within modern Buddhist commun
 ities in China.\nLunch will be provided. Please RSVP by October 14 and ind
 icate if you have any dietary restrictions. Space is limited and priority 
 will be given to U of T graduate students and faculty.\n\nCome for lunch
 —and stay curious! Dr. Li will unpack her research in full during her ev
